Packaging regulation

New EU packaging regulations -
Regulations at www.spielmaterial.de

1. Basis

    • Packaging Regulation (PPWR): The European Packaging Directive 94/62/EC has regulated the placing on the market, take-back, and recycling of packaging in the European Union for almost 30 years. In Germany, it is currently implemented through the Packaging Act (VerpackG). On February 27, 2023, the European Commission published a proposal for a new Packaging Regulation (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, PPWR) at the EU level. The new EU Packaging Regulation is part of the European Green Deal and the new EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy, and updates the EU legal framework for packaging and packaging waste. The new regulation is to apply immediately in all EU member states.

    • Basic Understanding: www.spielmaterial.de is committed to environmental protection (see also our environmental page at https://plus.spielmaterial.de/en/environment/) and makes extensive use of recycled shipping materials.

    • Packaging material: With regard to the aforementioned packaging regulations, we note that by using game boxes, we are not shipping new packaging abroad. The game boxes used do not constitute packaging but rather merchandise, as our customers can utilize them as game boxes with the help of blank labels. No supplementary packaging material is used either, as our goods do not require transport protection. We obtain the boxes from various game publishers who supply us with their overstock. This usage aligns with our shipping options, such as Warenpost International or DHL Parcel. Envelopes used for small-quantity shipments within Germany are duly reported to the German system.
