Game rules for Don't Capsize

Players are assigned a role and must use it to secure a life-saving spot on an overcrowded vessel. This requires strong arguments to ensure one remains on board. This game is based on the large-group activity commonly known as the "Boat Game."

Contents:

  • A boat with 3 figures

Gameplay:

Following a shipwreck, the players find themselves in a lifeboat—one, however, that can accommodate only three people. The survivors must reach a consensus regarding who must leave the boat—and who is allowed to stay—to ensure that not everyone perishes.

Each player assigns a profession or role to the player seated immediately to their right (clockwise). Adopting this assigned role, the players must use their powers of persuasion to attempt to secure one of the three available spots on the boat.

This game is conducted entirely verbally; there are no restrictions on how the players ultimately arrive at a solution. The figures and the boat may be used as props or aids (though their use is not mandatory).

Spielende:

The game concludes once three players have each secured a figure—and, by extension, a spot on the boat.
