Rules for White Star

A tactical game for two or more players, with the goal of hurling the remnants of the former red giant further and further away from the white star.

A white star is a small, very compact, old star. It represents the final stage in the evolution of most stars whose nuclear energy reserves have run out. They are the hot cores of very massive stars, the red giants, and remain when those giants shed their outer layers.

Contents:

  • 10 wooden cylinders (9 red, 1 white)
  • 1 playing field (e.g., sheet of paper or similar)
  • 1 measuring aid (coins, pens, fingers, etc.)

Preparation:

The white wooden cylinder is placed in the middle of the playing field. The player who last saw a star begins. The players take turns clockwise to place a red cylinder at least 1 cm away from the white game piece on the playing field.

How to play:

The next player begins the actual round. They choose a red wooden cylinder and measure its distance from the white star. They must now move another red wooden cylinder further away from the white star by this distance. This does not have to be in a straight line, but the piece must be further away from the white star afterwards. The players take turns clockwise.

End of round/game:

If a player cannot move any of the red cylinders further away from the white star, they are eliminated. They move the white cylinder and five red cylinders as they wish so that the remaining players can start again. As soon as only one player remains, they have won the game.
