Reading educates. So I read and stop at this point in my current book:
Dear passengers – please fasten your seat belts, close your mouths and put your mobile phones to one side. We will be landing in Essen shortly….
The games fair, then, the one in Essen. But no, that is NOT the decisive event for a game designer.
So what is a board game? Even the definition is not so easy. Approaches such as a board and a few playing pieces, possibly playing cards, play money here and there a token, seasoned with dice – no, that doesn’t help, because the content can be very different.
Say to a stranger – well, a person you know – “I’m a game designer”. The reaction to this could be exciting or unexpected. Or disturbing, if it’s a stranger and who would be… Well, disturbing by a familiar… disturbing too. I digress.
