So what is a board game? Even the definition is not so easy. Approaches such as a board and a few playing pieces, possibly playing cards, play money here and there a token, seasoned with dice – no, that doesn’t help, because the content can be very different. If, on the other hand, one says that the rule makes the game, then the physical is somehow missing or? Or does it count if the object is under board games in the shop and under board games in the online shop?
What is your approach then? Feel free to let me know…
I think a board game is a way to temporarily escape from everyday life and thus no different than a holiday. In this respect, as a game designer, I am nothing other than a tour operator.
